Fed Reserve Bank president speaks

USD · As scheduled · Times as listed on each Reserve Bank's own calendar (converted to ET). PTM rates it medium impact.

What it is

A speech, discussion or testimony by the president of one of the 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks, as listed on that Bank's own events calendar. PTM lists the Banks that publish upcoming appearances (Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Richmond and San Francisco).

Five presidents vote on the FOMC each year (New York always, the other four in rotation), and all twelve take part in its meetings. Not every appearance is about the rate outlook.

Why it matters

Presidents sit on the FOMC and vote in rotation, so their read of the outlook is part of how the rate path is judged between meetings.
